Bro . H . J . Oldroyd the past Junior Warden to make a presentation to the Immediade Past Master Bro . M . J . Martenson , as a token of the great esteem he was held in by the members of the Lodge , and a recognition of his services as W . M . during the past year . The testimonial , which consisted of a very handsome silver tea service , artistically engraved , was greatly admired .
Bro . Martenson suitably responded . The visitors expressed their hearty good wishes for the prosperity of the Humber Lodge , after which the Lodge was closed , and the company sat down to banquet .
HARMONY LODGE , No . 133 . THE installation meeting took place on Monday , 11 th inst ., at Faversham , when Bro . T . G . Gillett was installed as Master by Bro . A . J . Tassel ! P . M . After the usual work of the annual meeting the Brethren repaired to the banquet , held atthe Ship Hotel , under the presidency of the new W . M .

Forss presided at the regular meeting of this Lodge , held at the Royal Clarendon Hotel , Gravesend , on Wednesday , 13 th inst ., when he was supported by his Officers , Bros . W . Hawkey S . W ., Charles Matthews J . W ., A . Walklin acting S . D ., J . N . Willis J . D ., T . W . Galler I . G ., T . T . Hogg P . M . Treas ., J . Aylen Organist , E . Ingram , J . A . Gillett , R . J . taken , and proving unanimous m favour of Mr . Thomas Elliott Braine , he was admitted , and regularly initiated into the mysteries and privileges of the Order . Bros . H . 0 . Toms , W . Attwater and H . White , having proved their proficiency , were passed to the degree of Fellow Crafts . Both ceremonies were worked by Bro . Forss in his customary excellent manner .
The sum of ten guineas was voted to the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls , to be placed on the Steward's list , and it is interesting to note that during the evening a telegram was received from Bro . Bonaldson stating that over £ 15 , 000 had been subscribed . Another candidate was proposed for initiation at the next meeting , and the business of the evening being finished the Lodge was closed , and the Brethren adjourned to supper .
The usual complimentary toasts were given , Bros . Doughty and Beamish responding for the Provincial Grand Officers . The W . M ., in reply to the toast of his health , proposed by Bro . T . H . Lygo P . M ., said he was greatly encouraged in his work by the punctual attendance of his Officers . Bro . Braine , the initiate , stated the pleasure he had in being admitted a member of the Lodge , and hoped he would prove a credit to the Craft .
Bro . Nathan Cohen returned thanks on behalf of the visitors . He had enjoyed himself thoroughly , as it was the first time he had visited an English Lodge . Of course he was not there to criticise the English working , but as everybody liked his home the best , he was bound to confess that he preferred the American ritual and working generally . At the same time he appreciated
the conviviality of the fourth degree , and wished it might be introduced in the United States . He had been initiated twenty-one years ago , and had filled every office in his Lodge , having passed through the chair about six years since . Should any of the Brethren ever visit New York , he could assure them a cordial welcome from the Emanuel Lodge .
During the evening a pleasant programme of songs and recitations was given by Bros . Lavis , Horace Reynolds , Alf . White , Luchhurst , Gee and Drake , Bro . Aylen officiating at the piano .

ON Monday , 18 th inst ., -at the Masonic Hall , North Bridge Street , Sunderland , in the presence of a large number of Provincial Officers , visiting Brethren from local and distant Lodges , and members of the Lodge , Brother Thomas Harrison was installed W . M . for the ensuing year . The impressive charge was given by Brother E . Lantebach W . M ., and when his successor had duly qualified , the Officers were invested .
PENTANGLE LODGE , No . 1174 . THE members held their annual festival in their commodious Lodge room , at the Sun Hotel , Chatham , on Monday , 11 th inst ., when Bro . the Rev . W . H . Robins , D . D ., Vicar of Giilingham , was duly installed W . M . for the year , the ceremony of installation being performed by the W . M . Bro . Lieut .-Col . S . K . Ray , Brigade Surgeon . The Pentangle Lodge is one of the few purely service Lodges , its members being drawn chiefly from the Navy and Army or from the liberal professions , says the " Rochester Journal . "
The ordinary business of the Lodge having been transacted , including the disposal of a sum for charitable purposes , the Brethren partook of their annual banquet , presided over by the newly installed W . M ., when the customary Masonic toasts were honoured .
URMSTON LODGE , No . 1730 . THE regular meeting was held at the Victoria Hotel , Urmston , on Monday , the 11 th inst ., Bro . Walter Bowers W . M . After the reading and confirmation of minutes , the W . M . made a very satisfactory and successful initial attempt to explain the tracing board of the first degree .
At the social gathering which followed , Loyal and Masonic toasts were interspersed by songs , recitations , & c , given by Bros . Geo . R . Lloyd P . M . P . P . G . Treas . Sec , John Bowers P . M . Org ., Edward Roberts P . M . 1459 , and Samuel Gaskill W . M . 163 . Bro . John Slyman P . M . P . P . S . G . D ., in proposing the health of the
W . M ., alluded to the fact that the latter had not been confronted with an extravagance of work , but the speaker looked forward to an early period when Bro . Bowers might be able to evince to them that he was ( judging by his efforts of that evening ) capable of sustaining the high reputation of the Urmston Lodge for excellent ceremonial .
Bro . Bowers W . M . responded , saying in effect that he preferred to have a barren year rather than be a party to the admission of those who could not in every way justify the expectations formed with regard to candidates desirous of ioinina their ranks .

P . and J . Bowers P . M . 1730 .
Three ceremonies had been announced , but only two were performed . The initiation of Mr . Fred . Daniels , Builder , Pendleton , after a successful ballot , was undertaken by the W . M ., the Working Tools being presented and explained by Bro . Wm . Lambert J . W . and the Historical Charge delivered by Bro . T . M . Brown S . W . Following this was the raising to the sublime degree of M . M . of Bro . John Horricks by Bro . T . T . Sefton P . M .
Bro . Councl . Thos . Kay P . M . afterwards presented a Founders' jewel to Bro . W . Hardcastle P . M . P . P . G . D . C , who has only recently returned from a protracted trip abroad , undertaken on account of ill health . Past Masters
Bro . Eli Winterbottom and Thos . Threlfall were congratulated upon having received Provincial honours two days previously , the former as D . D . of 0 . and the latter as Steward , after which the Lodge was closed , the Brethren adjourning to tea .

There was a large attendance of Companions , including representatives of the Provincial Grand Chapter . The Chapter was opened by Comp . Tweedy , and after the exaltation of two candidates , the installation of the following Companions took place : — Wm . Robson as Z ., Wm . Charlton jun . as H ., and C . Reay as J . /
The convocation shortly afterwards closed , and the Companions adjourned to the Star and Garter Hotel , where the annual banquet was held
HOLMESDALE CHAPTER , No . 874 . A WELL-ATTENDED convocation was held at the Pump Room , Tun . bridge Wells , on the 5 th inst ., when the installation of the new Officers took plaoe . Comp . J . S . Fletcher was installed Z ., A . T . Simpson H ., C . J . Gallard J ., the ceremony being impressively performed by the retiring Z . The balance-sheet and report , which were very satisfactory , were approved , and a P . Z . jewel was presented to Comp .
