to the sublime degree of a Master Mason . Years after , when he had the pleasure of being Preceptor , he had promised his Brethren to do his utmost on their behalf , and he hoped the course he had pointed out had proved for their benefit . Bro . Dehane concluded by again thanking all for their kind reception of the toast . A song " Blind leading the blind , " by Mr . W . F . Moss was much admired , that gentleman giving " The Speaker ' s eye " as an encore .

The chairman next proposed the toast of the Westbourne Lodge of Instruction , having much pleasure in coupling with it the names of Brother Roberts W . M . of the Mother Lodge , and Brother R . J . Rogers P . M . and Treasurer of the Instruction .

The former , replying , thanked the president of the evening for coupling his name with the toast . He thought that was one of the most enjoyable evenings he had ever spent , and although he had hoped to have no occasion for a speech yet it was a pleasure to respond to this toast , as it was entirely

through the untiring patience of the Preceptor of the Westbourne Lodge of Instruction that he was able to go through his work in the Mother Lodge . He assured the Brethren that if they would only attend regularly they would receive the same kind assistance as he had . He was really delighted to see the Lodge under such able guidance and in such a prosperous condition .

Bro . Rogers followed , thanking the Brethren very much for the hearty way in which they had received the toast . He had been in hopes of seeing Past Masters Walker and Cottebrune in their midst that evening , but fate had ruled it otherwise . He was , however , glad to welcome Bro . Mason . It was very gratifying to find the Lodge had the hearts of the Brethren with it , as was shown by a telegram he had received from Bro . Curtis P . M . He

regretted the absence of many Brethren associated with the Lodge , and hoped the next anniversary would be even better supported than the present one . He was pleased to state the Lodge was established on a very firm basis and then bore testimony to the excellent training which aspiring young Masons might obtain if they would only join the Lodge , where they might be always sure of a hearty reception .

The toast of the Visitors was coupled with the name of Bro . Dymott , who suitably responded . The health of the Officers was acknowledged by Bro . Wortham Secretary , who , having tendered his thanks , had much pleasure in referring to the grant of five guineas made by the Lodge to the Benevolent Institution , and hoped that during the present year they would send another five guineas . He wished prosperity to the Lodge of Instruction , and if it did not prosper it would certainly not be from any lack of interest on his part .

The toast of the Host , the Hostess and family was next given , and , in response , Bro . Butcher said the way in which he had been received made that one of the happiest days of his life . Their task had been a hard one , but it was a great pleasure to himself and to his wife , who had so ably assisted him , to learn from the speeches that their efforts had given so much satisfaction .

Brother Roberts W . M . of the Mother Lodge proposed the health of the entertainers , who included Brothers G . Goddard , G . Mogford , G . Barter , G . Miles , R . J . Rogers P . M ., & c , with Brother R . B . Hopkins as accompanist . Brother Roberts felt sure the company desired to thank them for their kindness in adding to the enjoyment of the evening . He hoped that Bro . The meeting was shortly afterwards brought to a conclusion .
