Id ., and the expenditure to 701 / . 4 s . lcL , leaving in hand a balance of 643 / . 15 s ., out of which the Directors recommended a dividend of one shilling per share . The General Steam Navigation Company , also met on this day , and divided 14 .. per share , a dividend equivalent to 10 per cent . The British Telegraph Company also met on this day , and empowered to raise additional capital to the extent of £ 66000 on preferential stockto bear 7 centif

They also empowered , them to raise the sum of € 49 , 000 by mortgage on the Stourbridge Canals , and agreed to consolidate into the Company ' s Stock , the shares of the Chipping Norton

Branch . On the 29 th , the English , Scotch and Australian Bank declared a dividend of 4 percent ., ancl carried £ 240 to the Reserve Fund . On the same day , the Southampton Dock Company divided 17 , ? . Bd . per share , out of the profits of the last half year , being equivalent to 3-J- per cent , per annum . The accounts showed an increase of 4173 / . 14 s . lie .., on the receipts of the half year , over those of the corresponding six months of 1854 .

The North Devon Railway Company met the same day , and divided 3 s . 9 d . per share of £ 20 , and 3 s . on each £ 1 G share , carrying 172 / . 10 s . Id . to the revenue account of the current six months . At the Ambergate and Boston Railway Company ' s meeting , also held on this day , a dividend of 2 s . id . per share , was declared . The Vale of Neath Company , the same day , declared a dividend of 3 / . 15 s . per cent .
