Old Records Of The Lodge Of Peebles.

Peebles 17 th Janr . 1780 . Andrew Scott Depute Master paid to Thomas TAveedale three pounds , ten shillings sterling , which makes the principal sum due at this date one hundred one pound , ten shillings sterling , and finds in Thomas Tweedale Boxmaster ' s hands due to tbe Lodge four shillings ancl eightpence sterling . THOMAS TWEEDALE . Thereafter this meeting agreed that there should be a letter wrote to all the absent Bretheren to meet this day three weeks the seventh of Feberary next here , or send a reasonable excuse , as there is some resolution to be entered into there auent either selling the house or to raise money to Defray the Debt contracted thereon , and impowers the Clerk to Avrite to said Bretheren . , the meeting seems neA'er to bave been held , which perhaps , on afterthought , they would consider to be more consistent with the minute of 28 th December , 1779 , where they bad entered into a contract letting the house for a period of five years . Be this as it may , however , there is no meeting recorded on date 7 th February . Tbe next minute is of date 27 th November , 1780 , which modifies an enactment passed at meeting held Dec . 27 th , 1777 . —R . S . )

Peebles 27 th Novr . 1780 . In a meeting of the Peebles Kilwinning Lodge of Peebles . They having taken into their consideration a minute made the Twenty-seventh clay of December seventeen hundred and seventy-seven years , binding the ' members of said Lodge to pay four shillings sterling each yearly of quarter dues . But as several of the members thinks these dues over hi gh , Tbe meeting has unanimously agreed that there shall onlbe paid two shillings sterling yearl

y y paid by each member at Saint John ' s Day next . In witness whereof tbe whole Members Present has Signed this minute and recomeiids it to the Master or Clerk to get it signed b y the absent members at the first opportunity .
