strains of Bro . Bradley ' s beautiful band , which was very much admired , and gave great satisfaction , while Bro . Frampton , as M . C ., contributed , by his happy and courteous manner , to the delight of all . The Board of Stewards , consisting of Bros . Nicholson , Kennedy , G . M . Gurton , Jackson , Harrison , Underwood , Bean , Watson , Abbott , Holden , Perkins , Norlan , Bladon , Swains ton , Waters , and Lowden , with Bro . Jeffries as the President , and Bro . Emmens Honorary Secretary , carried out all the arrangements for the reception of so large an assemblage to perfection .

Bradford . — The Hope Lodge { No .. 379 ) , in conjunction with the Lodge of Harmony ( No . 874 ) , gave a grand ball , in the Exchange-rooms , on Tuesday evening , the 9 th of January , which was numerously attended by the Masons of the province , including Bro . Dr . Fearnley , the newly-appointed D . Prov . Gr . M . of West Yorkshire , and a select number of their friends : the whole passed off

with the most complete satisfaction . The proceeds , along with several very handsome donations , amounting to about £ 250 , will be handed over to the Treasurer of the Bradford Infirmary , to refurnish the Masonic Ward , and for the general benefit of the charity , to which the Freemasons of this town have before liberally contributed .

Derby . —On Monday , January 5 , a Masonic Ball ( the first that has taken place in Derby ) was held in the New Assembly Booms , and passed off with considerable eclat . Most parties who have visited the New Assembly Booms are aware of its brilliant appearance when lighted up for a ball , and graced with the youth and beauty of the county . On this evening the effect was considerably heightened by the introduction of a large number of Masonic banners , which had been arranged under the superintendence of Bros . S . Henchley , jun ., and W . Cantrill , and by the varied dresses

of the Masonic Brethren , from the Boyal Arch Chapter down to the Fellow Craft There were present , also , Brethren from Chesterfield , Nottingham , Lichfield , and other places . The general company began to arrive about nine o ' clock , and were received by the following stewards : —Bro . Charles Robert Colville , M . P ., D . G . M . for Derbyshire ; Bro . W . P . Thornhill , M . P . ; Bro . W . Prince ; Bro . S . Colinson , W . M ., Prov . G . J . D . for Derbyshire ; Bro . W . Allen , Prov . GLJ . W . for Derbyshire : and Bro . Dr . Johnson . Dancing commenced at half past nine o ' clock , the

ball being opened by Bro . Colville and Lady Cave . Horobin s band , from Manchester , occupied the orchestra . At twelve o ' clock the party adjourned to the supper-room , which had been most elegantly prepared by Bro . Iluggins , of the King ' s Head Hotel . It gave the highest satisfaction . After supper , dancing was resumed and kept up with unflagging spirit until half past two o ' clock , when the band struck up " Hoger de Coverly , " and by three o ' clock the whole of the

joyous party had left the room . Tea , coffee , and other refreshments were served during the evening in the ante-room . The success which has attended the above ball , we are glad to announce , will most probably induce the Masonic Brethren to hold one annually , and we have no doubt from the very spirited manner in which their first one went off , that it will become one of the most popular reunions in the midland counties . The acting Stewards are deserving the thanks of the visitors for their exertions .

Dudley . —The annual Masonic Ball took place with more than usual ecla . t on Wednesday , the 21 st January . The Ball room was most tastefully arranged , and decorated with the various banners and emblems of the Lodges and Chapters of the town , under the superintendence of Bros . Mansfield , Dennison , Clark , Wigginton , Smith , and Wright , ( who formed the sub-committee appointed to arrange all preliminaries ) , and we are pleased to say that the result of their labours

gave great satisfaction . The supper-tables were laid out with great taste , and actually groaned under the profuse supply of delicacies of every kind and description , the tout ensemble of which was as pleasing to the eye as actual contact was savoury to the palate , and fully upholding the high character earned for the Dudley Arms Hotel by its indefatigable hostess , Mrs . Alice Smith . The attendance was very numerous , far exceeding that of last year , and only second to that which occurred during the exciting contest of the South Staffordshire election , the defeated candidate for which ( Bro . the Lord Viscount Ingestre ) honoured it with
